Mr. Neven Mimica serves as the European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development since November 1 2014. Between 1979 and 1997, he held various positions in governmental bodies related to foreign relations. In 1997, he was appointed Assistant Minister, then Deputy Minister of the Economy and served as the Chief Negotiator for the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and WTO accession of Croatia. In September 2001, he became Minister of European Integration, position he held until December 2003. Between 2004 to 2008, he served as Member of Croatian Parliament, representing Socijaldemokratska partija hrvatske of the Social Democratic Party. Between 2008 and 2011 he was the Deputy Speaker of Croatian Parliament and the Chair of the European Integration Committee. Before joining the European Commission, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Croatian government, responsible for Internal, Foreign and European policy from December 2011 to 2013.
